INUKSUK (Old woman's stories)
INUKSUK (Old woman's stories)

Inspired by an Eskimo legend and short film from 1990. Remember seeing it as a kid and the story has stayed with me since then.
Inuksuk is a story of the unlikely friendship between an Eskimo boy named Tuk, and a polar bear named Inuksuk.
An inuksuk is a manmade stone landmark built for use by the Inuit of Greenland. One day, an old woman living by herself, found her inuksuk overturned by the hand of a young polar bear abandoned by his mother. The old woman adopted the bear and named him after her fallen landmark. This rare event quickly caught the interest of the boy named Tuk from the village nearby, and soon afterward a close friendship was developed.
